Spartan Uses Web-Based Carrier Scheduling at Two DCs

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Spartan Stores has successfully deployed the Retalix Dock Scheduling software application at its distribution centers here and in Plymouth, Mich. The system uses appointment-scheduling functions to facilitate carrier scheduling via the Web.
By tracking due dates, forecasting estimated loading and unloading durations, and recommending the appropriate warehouse dock and door, the software “has led to a significant increase in our Web scheduling and allowed us to streamline our appointment process and cut our manned appointment line-hours in half,” said Tom West, traffic manager for Spartan Stores, in a statement.
