Stater Donates 1,100 Bicycles

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Stater Bros. Charities here was scheduled to present 1,100 new bicycles yesterday to fourth-grade students in its operating area who were nominated by their teachers for being outstanding role models in the classroom.
The donations resulted from the chain’s annual radiothon in late September to raise money for Loma Linda University Children's Hospital, which raised more than $336,000. For every individual donation of at leat $200, Stater Charities and its business partners agreed to donate a new bicycle to the schoolchildren.
