Stop & Shop Rolling Out Meals Program
Jul 9, 2008 6:00 AM
QUINCY, Mass. — Stop & Shop Supermarkets is offering Choose & Cook, a component-based fresh family meals program, at 34 locations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Shoppers can choose from a selection of entrees, sauces, side dishes and fresh vegetables, all located in a single Choose & Cook refrigerated case in the select stores. Current options include sirloin beef teriyaki, chicken cacciatore, shrimp pad thai, tilapia provencal, chicken in burgundy mushroom sauce and sweet chili chicken. Ingredients to make the dishes are presented in color-coded packaging to simplify the pairing of the different entree, sauce, side and vegetable components for the meals, or shoppers can mix and match. All meals were developed so shoppers can prepare them at home in under 20 minutes, using a single skillet. The company has been rolling out the program to select stores since spring 2008.
