Supervalu Announces Stimulus Check Bonus Program

MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu here on Thursday announced a program to provide added value to gift cards purchased with tax-refund or government-issued economic stimulus checks. The program, similar to one announced last week by rival Kroger, will add $30 in value to each $300 gift card purchased at Supervalu-owned retail stores with tax refund or stimulus checks, Supervalu said. Jeff Noddle, chief executive officer of Supervalu, in a statement said the program would help stretch consumers’ budgets.
