Teamsters Pledge Support for Obama

WASHINGTON — The International Brotherhood of Teamsters on Thursday became the latest labor union to throw its support behind Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama. Jimmy Hoffa Jr., president of the 1.4 million-member union, cited Obama’s commitment to rebuilding transportation infrastructure and his support of union calls for better wages for workers, health care reform and retirement security. Teamsters, whose members work in food warehousing and distribution, joined the largest union of food retail employees, the United Food and Commercial Workers, in support of Obama
