LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — GS1 US here, which oversees bar codes, traceability, data quality and other commercial standards used by food retailers, announced that it is changing the name of its annual U Connect Conference to the GS1 Connect Conference.
The first conference under the new name will take place June 4 to 7, 2012, at the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
The conference, which debuted in 2000, is designed for a cross-section of industries, including grocery, fresh foods, consumer packaged goods, foodservice, general merchandise, apparel healthcare, and others. Topics covered include product and location identification; inventory efficiency; traceability and safety; business-to-consumer communication; trading-partner collaboration; and data quality, data management, and data synchronization.
"The knowledge GS1 Connect offers is increasingly important as smartphone and computer applications make the supply chain visible to consumers, and as developments in areas such as RFID and Product Data Management change the playing field for everyone in the supply chain," said Bob Carpenter, president and chief executive officer of GS1 US.
