New Wine Tool Available at Meijer

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer is offering a widget that lets wine buyers get continuously updated, store-specific wine information on their Facebook page, blog or other social medium.
Meijer WineList, also available at meijermealbox.com/winelist, allows users to find out which wines are available at their favorite Meijer store, which are on sale, and which go best with their planned meal.
Searches can also be conducted based on wine price, country of origin or varietal. “Wine is a complicated area for people. This helps them drill through all the options,” Corbin de Rubertis, president of Qponix, Ann Arbor, Mich, provider of the widget platform, told SN.
WineList soon will let users create a list of wine preferences based on weekly specials or other criteria and send it to others via email, and soon it will be available as part of an iPhone application.
The wine initiative is part of Meijer Mealbox, which allows users to integrate meal planning, budgeting and purchase preferences online. They can plan a calendar of meals by selecting recipes. Once they do, ingredients are automatically plugged into a shopping list, along with printable coupons for relevant sale items. A Meijer Mealbox widget is also available.
A Meijer spokesman was unavailable for comment.
