Zaucha Receives FMI Lifetime Achievement Award

WASHINGTON — Food Marketing Institute here has presented a lifetime achievement award to Thomas K. Zaucha, president and chief executive officer of the National Grocers Association, “for more than 40 years of stellar service to the food industry.” Zaucha, who has headed NGA for 27 years, has announced plans to retire sometime in 2010.
“Tom’s leadership has enriched the industry in countless ways," said Leslie G. Sarasin, president and CEO of FMI. "His support for the entrepreneurs who innovate and help set the standard for customer service is a significant accomplishment. Under Tom's leadership NGA has become a champion and guardian of independent food retailers, helping preserve one of our industry's most precious assets. Tom is leaving a strong and lasting legacy.”
