PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. — The NPD Group here reported this week that Apple, Cupertino, Calif., has surpassed Best Buy and Target, both of Minneapolis, to become the No. 2 U.S. music retailer, behind Wal-Mart Stores, Bentonville, Ark.
