Drugstore.com Offers Rebate; Kmart Ups Generic Program List

BELLEVUE, Wash. -- Drugstore.com, an online provider of pharmacy, health and beauty care, and vision products, reported its new Free 30 generic prescription drug rebate program yesterday. As an answer to generic drug discounts at retail, new drugstore.com pharmacy customers ordering a 90-day supply of any of more than 1,000 eligible generic prescription drugs will receive a rebate equal to the cost of a 30-day supply. "Consumers are increasingly aware that they can save money by comparing prices for prescription medications, especially online," said Dawn Lepore, chief executive officer, drugstore.com. The Free 30 program is offered to first-time drugstore.com pharmacy customers only and does not apply to orders paid by insurance. Meanwhile, Kmart Pharmacy, Hoffman Estates, Ill., this week reported the addition of 22 products to its 90-day generic drug program, which now offers customers a total of 225 prescription drugs. The program, which began in May 2006, has been in effect in more than 1,100 Kmart pharmacies nationwide, and offers a 90-day supply of covered generic medications for $15.
