Gay Newspaper Back in Nashville Kroger Stores

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Kroger Co., Cincinnati, will again allow a regional gay and lesbian newspaper to be distributed inside some of its stores in the Nashville area, the Associated Press reported. Last month the chain pulled the monthly newspaper, “Out and About,” from free publication racks in 34 stores. Kroger had said that the newspaper’s distributor had not followed procedures for obtaining placement. “As we have done elsewhere, Kroger suspended distribution until the agreed-upon steps were followed. In this case, it resulted in the return of the paper to some stores in the Nashville area,” according to a press release cited by AP. The newspaper also had been removed from stores of Harris-Teeter, Matthews, N.C., but has not been reinstated there, AP reported.
