WASHINGTON — Retail pharmacy experienced a victory yesterday in its efforts to dispute mandatory mail-order prescription plans. The National Association of Chain Drug Stores, Alexandria, Va., applauded the House of Representatives passage of a bill that extends the current freeze on increases to retail pharmacy co-payments to prescriptions filled through the Tricare military health system, Falls Church Va. The legislation contains no provisions to steer beneficiaries to mail order. The legislation was passed as part of H.R.1585, the Fiscal Year 2008 National Defense Authorization Act. “This bill is pro-soldier and pro-veteran in that it protects the right of Tricare beneficiaries to benefit from their relationships with community pharmacy, which improve patient outcomes,” said NACDS President and Chief Executive Officer Steven C. Anderson.
