Kroger Adds Retail Partners to Credit Card Rewards Program

CINCINNATI — Kroger Co. has added a new feature to its Kroger 1-2-3 Rewards MasterCard program — points for purchases made from other retailers. Rewards points were originally earned only for purchases from a Kroger-owned store but according to the company’s personal finance website, cardholders can “earn one point per one dollar spent anywhere.” The Business Courier of Cincinnati reported this week that over 300 retailers are now part of the program with nearly all being online merchants or online divisions of brick-and-mortar stores. This innovation comes on the heels of Kroger Co.’s partnership with Safeway subsidiary Blackhawk Network to provide in-store Gift Card Malls.
