CINCINNATI — The Kroger Co. here, along with VeraSun Energy, Brookings, S.D., and Enterprise Rent-A-Car, St. Louis, reported this week several joint initiatives that position Kroger as a convenient source of E-85 fuel, a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline for flexible-fuel vehicles. Kroger will sell VeraSun-branded VE85 fuel at pumps in 20 Kroger locations in Ohio and Kentucky, bringing the number of VeraSun VE85 outlets in the U.S. to over 100. Enterprise will designate four rental locations as VE85TM/FlexFuel branches, making a quarter of the branch’s rental fleet General Motors FlexFuel vehicles. Enterprise will fuel the cars with VE85 from nearby Kroger locations, and will provide ethanol education materials and maps to Kroger’s Ohio VE85 fueling locations inside each automobile.
