SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Martin’s Super Markets is now providing eight common generic antibiotic prescriptions free of charge. Customers must provide a doctor’s prescription for one of the qualifying oral antibiotics, as well as a Martin’s Advantage Card, to activate the offer. Those without the store card may obtain one immediately, free of charge, the company said. The program is for both insured and uninsured patients and does not have a per-customer limit. “Martin’s Pharmacies are proud to launch a program that offers necessary medications to all families in the neighborhoods we serve,” said Dave Adams, director of pharmacy at Martin’s. “With health care costs continuing to rise, this free antibiotic program can help alleviate some of the financial burdens placed on families and seniors.” The program comes shortly after Meijer, Grand Rapids, Mich., reported providing more than 1 million free antibiotic prescriptions during the first year of its similar program.
