Meijer Sells CDs for Unsigned Artists
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Meijer is the newest player in the indie music scene. Starting Sunday, the supermarket will begin supporting new and local artists under its program, "Outside the Mainstream." Each month, the retailer will purchase 1,000 CDs by an unsigned musician for distribution and price them at $7.49 each. Artists will be featured in the retailer's circulars, reaching 7 million households. Joshua Davis, the singer of the Lansing, Mich.-based acoustic quartet Steppin' In It, was the first musician selected as artist of the month.Subscribe / Renew to Supermarket News
