ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The National Association of Chain Drug Stores named Gary Wirth, vice president of state government affairs, this week. Wirth will assume the responsibility for directing NACDS' state government affairs activity in all 50 states. He will supervise a network of six regional staff lobbyists throughout the nation. Most recently, Wirth served as director, professional pharmacy services for Ahold USA. “During this search, we were looking for an exceptional candidate who is a pharmacist; has a firm understanding of the impact of state government affairs on the pharmacy industry; is highly regarded and has the trust of the NACDS membership; and who understands the NACDS membership, issues and culture. We looked for the best possible candidate and we found him in Gary Wirth,” said Steven Anderson, NACDS president and chief executive officer.
