LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix Super Markets unveiled a selection of free antibiotics at its 684 pharmacies yesterday. Seven generic oral antibiotics are being offered to new and existing customers at no cost, up to a 14-day supply. Publix is not limiting the number of prescriptions customers may fill for free. “These drugs are 50% of the generic prescriptions filled at Publix in the area of pediatrics,” Publix spokesman Dwaine Stevens told SN. “They are commonly used antibiotics so they represent the best benefit for our customers.” The drugs are: Amoxicillin, Cephalexin, Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim, Ciprofloxacin, Penicillin VK, and Ampicillin and Erythromycin.
