Publix Pharmacies Fill Millionth Free Prescription

LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix Super Markets filled its 1 millionth free antibiotic prescription through its free prescription drug program and has added doxycycline hyclate (capsules) to the program. Launched in August 2007, Publix’s free prescription drug program included the following oral antibiotics at all of its Publix Pharmacies: amoxicillin cephalexin sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim (SMZ-TMP) ciprofloxacin (excluding ciprofloxacin XR) penicillin VK ampicillin and erythromycin (excluding Ery-Tab). “Filling our millionth prescription under our free prescription drug program is a milestone we’re proud to accomplish. Our customers and the medical community have been very pleased with the program,” said Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director. “Adding doxycycline hyclate capsules to the program will help meet the health and wellness needs of even more of our customers and associates.”
