Spartan Stores Offering Pet Insurance

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Spartan Stores throughout Michigan will now offer pet insurance through PetFirst Healthcare, Jeffersonville, Ind., PetFirst reported yesterday. Spartan Stores is offering the pet insurance at 35 of its Family Fare and D&W Fresh Market locations. It is the second major retail partner for PetFirst, which also launched a pet insurance program through Kroger Co., Cincinnati. PetFirst will reimburse up to 90% of a pet owner's veterinary expenses, including routine care such as annual exams, vaccinations, flea control and spay/neuter services, as well as surgeries, X-rays or hospitalization that result from illness or injury.
