Cigarettes are a convenience, high pilferage, low margin category. If this category does not add to the shopping cart, it no longer has bottom line appeal. CVS like any store chain is concerned more about their bottom line than anything else. They came up with a clever scheme to get out of the category.

The government needs to stay out of it. Next thing you know they will ban junk food, alcohol, and anything else that is potentially harmful. Yes tabacco is harmful but look around you, many things used in excess have adverse affects. Where does it stop?

I notice there is no mention of the states whose Attorneys General are proposing this, but I'd bet a lunch they all have a (D) after their name.
What's next? Sugar, Fatty Foods, Caffeine, Beer, Wine, Spirits? Government, butt out of our life!
