PHOENIX -- Two veteran retailers here have been inducted into the Arizona Grocers Hall of Fame: Bob Richards, formerly with A.J. Bayless Co., and Neb Keeton, formerly with Neb's Markets.
Keeton joined his father's independent supermarket in 1946 and supervised the growth of the company to six stores. To combat the strength of chain operators, Keeton started the Sure Save ad group here to allow independent operators to run ads and purchase merchandise in larger quantities at a lower cost.
He also served as chairman of Associated Grocers here (now a division of Fleming Cos., Oklahoma City) and as chairman of the Retail Grocers Association of Arizona (now Arizona Food Marketing Alliance).
