ermarkets here has appointed Gianfranco DiCarlo to the new position of vice president of deli, bakery and food service, supermarket division.
DiCarlo came to Marsh Supermarkets from Harris Teeter, Charlotte, N.C., where he worked for five years, most recently as director of food service for the 140-unit chain, and before that as corporate chef and operations manager for deli/bakery.
Prior to his stint at Harris Teeter, DiCarlo was a restaurant consultant based in New York and had worked for Dean & Deluca, Balducci's and Grace's Marketplace, all New York specialty retailers.
In his new post, DiCarlo reports to Don Marsh, president and chief executive officer of the 90-unit chain.
Vons Adds Development Post ARCADIA, Calif. -- Vons Cos. here has named William "Pat" DeFriese director of food development, a new position.
DeFriese is responsible for developing meal solutions programs for Vons. He reports to Harold Rudnick, senior vice president of procurement. DeFriese was a produce merchandiser for Vons.
Margolis was food-service specialist at Haggen Inc., Bellingham, Wash. In her new post, she reports to Jim McDevitt, director of perishables.
ROGERS, Minn. -- Packaging supplier Ultra Pac here has named Michael J. Laub to the new position of chief operating officer.
With 25 years of experience in executive posts at high-volume manufacturing companies, Laub was most recently president and chief executive officer of Innovative Sports, a Minneapolis-based manufacturer of in-line skates.
