D&W Names DeVries to Post
D&W Food Centers here has named Tom DeVries director of food service.
An employee of the company for 12 years, he was most recently director of central kitchen. The director of food service post has been vacant since Mike Eardley was promoted to senior director of fresh foods more than a year ago.
DeVries will have responsibility for retail deli and cafe operations as well as central kitchen and full-service catering. The 26-unit chain is currently seeking a replacement for him as director of central kitchen, a D&W source said.
In his new post, DeVries reports to Eardley.
Wild Oats Fills New Position
BOULDER, Colo. -- Wild Oats Markets, a 40-unit natural foods retailer here, has named Jeff Paliwada corporate director of food-service operations, a newly created position.
Previously, he was regional director of food service and corporate chef in the Chicago region for Whole Foods, which is based in Austin, Texas. In his new post, Paliwada will report to Barry Perzow, director of sales, merchandising and purchasing. In mergers over the past two years, Wild Oats has taken over the operation of Caper's, Vancouver, British Columbia, and Alfalfa's here, both former operators in the natural-food supermarket arena.
B&R Taps Bakery/Deli Director
LINCOLN, Neb. -- B&R Stores here has named Dennis Incontro to the position of bakery/deli director.
With the company nearly 10 years as bakery director, Incontro will continue to direct bakery operations for the 11-unit retailer. He also will take over all deli responsibilities formerly carried out by Steve Nelson, deli director, who has left the company.
