Richard's Market has named Jon Smith executive chef for the single-unit retailer based here. The appointment fills a new position. Smith is responsible for managing all activities in the food-service division of V. Richard's, including purchasing, menu development and merchandising. He also contributes to the retailer's catering and cafe operations.
Prior to this, Smith was executive chef at Mader's Restaurant, Milwaukee, a 100-year-old landmark dining establishment. A 30-year industry veteran, he has also held senior culinary positions in the hotel, country club and catering segments of the food-service industry. He is a graduate of Milwaukee Area Technical College and has completed numerous post-graduate courses at the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, N.Y.
MONTVALE, N.J. -- A&P here has named Michael Snell vice president of deli/bakery merchandising, responsible for management of all merchandising efforts in the in-store bakery and deli, as well as in-store prepared foods and meal solutions. Snell succeeds Hillary Gray, who has left the company, and reports to George Graham, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for the chain.
Snell brings more than 25 years experience in retail supermarket operations, product development and marketing to his new position. He was last employed as vice president and partner of Premier Food Marketing and has prior deli/bakery experience with Carlisle, Pa.-based Edwards Super Food Stores and Food Emporium, based in Southfield, Mich.
