Industry analysts speculated that Plaisance left Safeway in part because she was not in line to be named chief financial officer following the resignation last month of Vasant Prabhu. Plaisance could not be reached for comment last week. Safeway has not yet named a successor to either Plaisance or Prabhu.
Plaisance, 43, joined Safeway in 1990 as director of investor relations, and has held her most recent post with the company since 2000. Prior to joining Safeway, Plaisance was vice president and relationship manager with Bankers Trust.
SCARBOROUGH, Maine -- Hannaford Bros. here last week said it named Mark Doiron senior vice president, merchandising and distribution, of the chain, which is a division of Delhaize America, Salisbury, N.C. The 18-year Hannaford veteran previously had been senior vice president of retail operations. He will be responsible for buying, merchandising, warehousing and distribution.
Also, Beth Newlands Campbell was named senior vice president, business strategy and retail operations. She retains her responsibility for business strategy, marketing and communications, and re-assumes her responsibility for retail operations.
Emily Dickinson was promoted to senior vice president, legal affairs and government relations. She assumes responsibility for Hannaford's project management office, in addition to continuing oversight of legal and government affairs at Hannaford and Kash n' Karry.
