WASHINGTON -- The Food Marketing Institute here will feature 30 speakers, 1,500 exhibits, workshops and more at its 1999 Supermarket Industry Convention and Educational Exposition May 2 to 4 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
The workshops will cover topics including consumer trends, Y2K, e-commerce, home-meal replacement, management recruiting and store design. Some sessions will be translated into five other languages, including Chinese. The expo will also offer eight idea exchange breakfasts that will focus on various food-retailing issues.
The U.S. Food Export Showcase sponsored by the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture will feature representatives of 35 states, who will highlight companies that produce export products. Food retailers will also have the opportunity to visit pavilions showcasing ethnic foods and products from foreign countries.
