MONTVALE, N.J. -- A&P here said last week it has elected Christian Haub to the additional post of co-chief executive officer, to serve jointly with James Wood, the chain's chairman and CEO.

Wood has been CEO since 1980. Industry observers told SN last week Wood has indicated that he anticipates retiring by 1998.
Haub, who joined A&P in 1991 as vice president of real estate and development, was named president and chief operating officer in 1993. He is the son of Erivan Haub, the primary shareholder in A&P's parent company, Tengelmann, Mulheim, Germany.
