Dominick's Finer Foods, Northlake, Ill., today is slated to make an initial public offering of 6.4 million shares of common stock, analysts told SN last week. The stock price won't be set until Oct. 28, with trading to begin a day later. In its prospectus, Dominick's estimated the price at $17 a share and the net proceeds at $92.7 million, which would be used to pare debt and add flexibility for more new-store growth. It expects to list the stock on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol DFF.

C&S Wholesale Grocers, Brattleboro, Vt., will begin supplying frozen food and slow-moving groceries to Safeway's 125-store Eastern division, Lanham, Md., in January, Safeway spokesman Brian Dowling said. The two companies still are deciding which items will be provided under the five-year limited-supply deal, reached this month, he said.
City Market, Grand Junction, Colo., a Kroger subsidiary, and United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 have settled a two-month strike at five Colorado supermarkets, company and union officials told SN last week. The union ratified a three-year contract that includes a 90-cent wage hike and use of prepackaged meat and vendor stocking.
