game manufacturers are incorporating a DVD component to their products, adding value for the consumer, but keeping price points low enough for supermarkets, said industry observers at the American International Toy Fair here. "Games with a DVD component give families the variety of randomized play, which means value," said Reyne Rice, toy trends specialist and consultant, Toy Industry Association, New York. "Supermarket buyers tell me our product is flying off their shelves, even though at $24.99, it is a bit over the normal supermarket price point," said Melvin Wells, vice president of alternate trade channels at Screenlife, Seattle, maker of "Scene It? The DVD Game." Instructional DVDs were featured with yo-yos from Duncan Toys, Middlefield, Ohio, and card games from Zoki, Sherman Oaks, Calif., for price points at or below $6.99.
