ARLINGTON, Va. -- The National Wooden Pallet and Container Association here is offering a training video on proper pallet-handling techniques based on research revealing that a majority of product damages occur as a result of the improper handling of pallets.
d Kathy Conroy, industry promotion and marketing director, The National Wooden Pallet and Container Association. "This video is a tool that they can use to educate their employees about safety."
Product damage can occur when the operator of a fork truck or pallet jack inadvertently drops a pallet or rams the prongs into the side of the product. Improper integration of a pallet with materials-handling systems also can cause damage. Damage may also occur when the pallet can no longer properly support the load.
