WASHINGTON -- An underwriting grant from Philip Morris Cos. and participating retailers will cover all administration costs for this season's Food for All campaign -- allowing 100% of shopper donations to go to antihunger charities.
In Chicago last week, Jewel-Osco stores switched from the seasonal Food for All campaign to a year-round campaign. Mayor Richard M. Daley proclaimed last Wednesday "Food for All Day in Chicago" to commemorate the launch.
Seventy percent of the funds raised in Chicago in the year-round effort will remain in the area, funding the Chicago Anti-Hunger Federation and other groups. Twenty percent of the money raised there will fund long-term self-help programs overseas and the remaining 10% will cover program expenses, FICAH said.
FICAH has raised more than $6 million since its inception in 1985. About 6,000 retail stores participate in the program.
