-- A major marketing campaign will support the in-store rollout of its new Gillette for Women Passion Venus shaving system. The campaign, from the Gillette Co. here, will include television and print advertising, promotional events and in-store merchandising. The pink Passion Venus razors come with a suggested retail pricing of $7.99 to $8.99, including razor, storage compact and one additional cartridge. Four-packs of refill cartridges are also priced at $7.99 to $8.99. As part of the marketing push, Gillette sponsored Jeremy Scott's fashion show in Los Angeles at the beginning of April, which featured couture designs modeled by Christina Aguilera and other celebrities, all in "passion pink." Advertising spots, entitled "Joy Ride," will air during programs like "American Idol," "Friends" and "Gilmore Girls" beginning April 14 in the U.S. The commercials feature a group of young women cruising in a pink Cadillac to the sounds of a new rendition of "Venus," the Bananarama song. Print campaigns also debuted this month in magazines that included Glamour, Marie Claire and Allure.
