PARIS - Supermarket News will participate as a jury member in the SIAL D'Or 2006 Awards competition for innovative food products here on May 11-12, and nominate new products that enjoyed commercial success in the United States in eight categories.

Nominated products from the participating countries will compete for eight "category" SIAL D'Or awards, given to the product that garners the highest marks from the jury in its category. In addition, a "country" SIAL D'Or will be awarded to each country's highest-scoring product nominee. These winners will be announced after the conclusion of the two-day competition. The eight category winners will also compete in a second vote for the single "global" SIAL D'Or award, to be announced during the SIAL 2006 trade show, Oct. 22-26.

This year marks the fourth time that SN has participated in the biannual international new products competition, held in conjunction with SIAL (Salon International de L'Alimentation) food and beverage trade show.
