FLORENCE, N.J. -- Super Fresh Food Markets here and Stouffer's Lean Cuisine, Solon, Ohio, teamed up with Philadelphia's WMMR radio station to give away seaside vacations to eight lucky customers.
The promotion, which ran from the end of April until the middle of this month, offered shoppers the opportunity to win one week at a beach house in Sea Isle City, N.J. "[Stouffer's] kicked off with an ad at the beginning and then an ad at the end," said Jim Healy, program manager and merchandiser of frozen food for Super Fresh, a division of A&P, Montvale, N.J. "They do either Lean Cuisine or red box, 40% or 30% off all sales."
The Stouffer's product promotions for the beach house contest, Healy told SN, were run in addition to its regular schedule of twice a quarter. Entries, said Scott Vicari, Super Fresh's director of advertising, were taken from customers who used their Bonus Savings Club Cards during the 10-week promotion.
"We downloaded the information from the scanning system, and the computer picked a number of winners," said Vicari, adding that customers not enrolled in the Bonus Club Card Savings program could send an entry directly to WMMR.
Super Fresh, Vicari told SN, spread the word about the contest through its weekly circular. An ad with the heading, "Win a Week at a Beach House in Sea Isle City, N.J." appeared on the circular's frozen and dairy page. Featured in the ad were product shots of Lean Cuisine entrees and the three sponsors' logos.
John Kubiak, promotion director for WMMR, said the station ran recorded promos five times a day during the contest. Kubiak said Super Fresh and Stouffer's sponsorship fees help cover the cost of renting the beach house for the summer. "It's a great promotion," said Vicari of Super Fresh. "This is the second year we've teamed up with Stouffer's."
