CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Winn-Dixie here used a full-page newspaper ad to tout its recent price reductions.
About 70 items, primarily Center Store products, were listed in the ad. Former retail prices were printed in black adjacent to the current reduced prices, which were in red.
For example, Swiss Miss hot cocoa was featured at $1.68, down from its original $1.88 retail, while a 19.7-ounce box of Kellogg's Froot Loops was marked down from $3.58 to two for $5.
As reported, the Jacksonville, Fla.-based chain announced in September a price cut on more than 3,000 items in its 1,178 stores. Prices and items affected vary by division, according to Mickey Clerc, vice president of public affairs for the chain.
A source in the retailer's Atlanta division, which organized the ad, said the items and prices specified applied to stores in the Chattanooga area, but that similar prices may be found in other market areas as well.
In addition to the list of marked-down products, a separate part of the ad promoted a 15% discount on all national brand chips, up from 10%.
