JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — With gas prices high and Christmas approaching, many consumers are feeling financially pinched this holiday season. But Winn-Dixie Stores aims to help with a new loyalty card promotion.
Earlier this month, the Southeastern chain announced a promotion in which shoppers will receive one free gallon of the chain's private-label whole, low-fat or fat-free milk for every five gallons purchased using their Customer Reward Card.
“In these times of economic pressure, this is just one more way for us to save our customers money on a product so vital to the health of their families,” Robin Miller, Winn-Dixie's director of communications, said in a release.
The promotion has been highlighted in store circulars, in point-of-sale materials and on the company's website. And news of the promotion recently drew the attention of the “Today” show, Miller told SN.
“It's designed to serve our customers better,” Miller said. “This is just one more way to give our shoppers the best possible experience in our stores.”
Miller added that, in the week since the program launched, reception among shoppers and store managers has been very favorable.
The promotion will continue through Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at all Winn-Dixie stores other than those in Louisiana, where state law prohibits retailers from giving away dairy products on a complimentary basis.
Shoppers who purchase five gallons using their loyalty cards during that time will receive a receipt-based coupon for a free gallon, redeemable through Jan. 15.
