Alliance Retail Group, Nashville, Tenn., said Thursday it has named Matt Jonas senior vice president-Midwest of its new office in Kansas City, Kan.
ARG, a self-negotiating co-op for members of Associated Wholesale Grocers, also based in Kansas City, Kan., said it represents 525 independent supermarkets in nine states with aggregated sales volume of $3 billion.
Jonas has been vice president, sales and, for Balls Food Stores in Kansas City since 2000. He was formerly director of operations and director of marketing at Bauersfeld Enterprises, Topeka, Kan., after working for 19 years in the Kansas City division of Fleming Cos., ultimately serving as corporate group vice president of distribution.
Joe Wolf, president of ARG, said Jonas has over 50 years of “solid retail food experience” in the Kansas City and Midwest markets, “and he is a perfect fit to help us grow this very important segment of business for ARG.”
According to Jonas, “The two things that are most in my blood are retail food and Kansas City. Running the ARG office here will allow me to share the most current economic growth trends and products with the community that I love, and I can’t wait to be a part of the continued success of these retailers.”
