AKRON, Ohio — Acme Fresh Markets here is abandoning plastic carts in favor of metal, according to published reports. Steve Albrecht, president of the 16-store operation, said the company switched from metal to plastic at a handful of stores about four years ago. However, the plastic carts didn't hold up well in the extreme winters, prompting the company to replace them with coated metal carts that are light and sturdy and expected to be more durable, Albrecht told the Akron Beacon Journal. ...
