LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — Rapid Recall Exchange, the online recall notification platform introduced a year ago, has surpassed 500 subscribers, its founding organizations said Thursday.
Arlington, Va.-based Food Marketing Institute and standards group GS1 US, based here, developed the service to improve on recall notification methods such as email and faxes. The service is also supported by Grocery Manufacturers Association and National Grocers Association.
Subscribers include retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers.
“Rapid Recall Exchange is the most fully featured recall service available, and we would like even more manufacturers to use it,” said Michael Roberson, director of corporate quality assurance at Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix Super Markets, in a prepared release. “Ideally it should be the industry’s primary source for recall communications, so we want and need adoption by the vast majority of our suppliers.”
