CHICAGO — Dominick’s, a division of Safeway, Pleasanton, Calif., began matching competitors’ discount deals through its “Deal Match” program on July 21. As previously reported, Safeway began testing the program earlier this year in Hawaii.
Dominick’s website home page flags the program as new for Dominick’s. Dominick’s loyalty club cardholders are able to get the same deals at Dominick’s on selected items as advertised by its competitors.
This week’s deals included: Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Crackers, a 6.6-ounce box for $1.75 and Vitaminwater, 20-ounce bottle, 10 for $10 as advertised by Target, and Tide 50-ounce Liquid or 56-ounce Powder (limit 4), for $5.49 and Rainier Cherries, $2.99 per pound as advertised by Jewel-Osco.
Safeway officials could not be reached for further comment.
