WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — Shaw's Supermarkets here, a division of Minneapolis-based Supervalu, said Wednesday it plans to close five stores by mid-February — three in Massachusetts and two in Rhode Island. In a prepared statement Shaw's said the stores were unprofitable and the decision to close them was "guided by what is best for Shaw's long-term growth and success as a whole."
