Harris Teeter claims to be the first retailer to earn the USDA Certified Very Tender label on its Cargill-supplied private label beef.
The retailer will use the Very Tender label on its Reserved Angus brand on cuts including ribeye, striploin, shortloin, tenderloin and top blade.
Harris Teeter is in the process of training itsdepartment employees on the program.
“We are going above and beyond the norm to give our shoppers another measure of confidence they deserve when purchasing quality beef products," Danna Jones, communication specialist for Harris Teeter, said in a statement. "Our hope is that this label will help eliminate confusion at the meat case.”
Cargill was the first processor to earn the USDA Certified Very Tender label.
