HOUSTON - TNR Entertainment Corp., which owns and operates DVD rental kiosks under the name "The New Release" in supermarkets, is running a month-long holiday promotion that highlights five of the year's most popular films in all of its 1,000 locations, the company said yesterday. The films, "Cars," "The Da Vinci Code," "Ice Age: The Meltdown," "Pirates of the Caribbean 2" and "Superman Returns," will be highlighted with holiday-themed merchandising and an expanded inventory of these titles. The promotion is timed for a prime DVD viewing period for families, the company said. "We know our customers don't want another stop in their holiday shopping, so simply adding some DVD rentals to their grocery list eliminates that hassle," said Tony Sciolla, spokesman for TNR. The kiosks are in eight supermarket chains including: A&P, Montvale, N.J.; Food Lion, Salisbury, N.C.; H.E. Butt Grocery Co., San Antonio; Kroger Co., Cincinnati; Kroger-owned King Soopers, Denver.; Publix, Lakeland, Fla.; Roundy's/Pick 'N Save, Pewaukee, Wis.; Safeway, Pleasanton, Calif.; Safeway-owned Randall's Food Markets, Houston; and Spartan Stores/ Family Fare, Grand Rapids, Mich.
