Idaho Potato Commission announces 25th retail display contest

The Idaho Potato Commission’s 25th annual retail display contest features double the prize money and new partners.

First place winners this year will be awarded $2,000, with cash prizes also going to second through 10th place winners. One hundred of the remained entries will receive Honorable Mention awards of $100. All entrants will receive a Hamilton Beach Personal Cup one-cup pod brewer.

Retailers will compete in three categories based on store size: 1-5 cash registers, 6-9 cash registers or 10-plus cash registers. IPC expects over 5,000 stores to enter.

Along with fresh Idaho potatoes (bag, bulk or both) and dehydrated potato products, competing displays must also include Hormel Real Bacon Bits and Country Crock Original buttery spread, as well as IPC’s current POS materials.

“By featuring Idaho potatoes enhanced by both Country Crock Original buttery spread and Hormel Real Bacon Bits, retailers can cater to their shoppers’ taste buds and their need for fast, convenient ‘comfort food’ dishes that their families will love,” says IPC marketing manager Jamie Bowen. “Every year our retailers come up with incredibly imaginative ways to display Idaho potatoes for the contest, so this will give them more ingredients to add to the mix and help heat up winter potato sales.”

The contest will run from mid-January through mid-March 2016. Winners will be announced in June 2016. Retailers can find more information and full contest rules at www.IdahoPotato.com/Retail.
