Cherry Marketers Unveil New Health Campaign
NEW YORK -- The Cherry Marketing Institute introduced a consumer campaign emphasizing new research that shows tart cherries offer more antioxidants than cranberries and almost as much as blueberries. Growers banded together to fund the research and to release the information in the first-ever Cherry Nutrition Report, a summary of the scientific evidence on the health benefits of tart cherries, which are grown primarily in Michigan. The study reinforced what's been known for years as a home remedy: The nutrients in tart cherries can help ease the pain associated with arthritis and gout. Store promotions and events are planned for the rest of this year, taking into account that this type of cherry is available year-round.Subscribe / Renew to Supermarket News
