Dorothy Lane Schedules Farmers’ Markets
Jul 22, 2008 6:00 AM
DAYTON, Ohio — Dorothy Lane Market will host its first-ever farmers’ market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 26 at its Washington Square store. Other farmers’ markets will be held Aug. 9 in its Oakwood unit and Aug. 23 in Springboro. Attendees will get a chance to meet some of Dorothy Lane’s local farmers, and buy local produce, flowers, honey, cheese and eggs. One of the participating vendors will be Ray Brentlinger, who has been supplying Dorothy Lane with locally grown sweet corn for over 30 years. “With the increase of foodborne illnesses in the United States, the importance of knowing where your food is coming from is becoming more and more important each day,” Dorothy Lane said. “Adding just one or two items a week that are grown or raised locally can have an enormous effect on the environment and the local economy."
