Produce groups recently posted two e-learning courses to help the industry with product identification and traceability.
"The modules are developed for all industry participants to gain foundational knowledge and can be used as training tools for new employees or as a refresher for industry veterans seeking a clearer understanding of these key concepts for their day-to-day operations," wrote Lee Mannering, PMA government relations and public affairs manager, in a blog post.
The produce identification module is intended to help identify produce items using data carriers, barcodes or identification numbers, while the traceability module outlines the core elements and benefits of traceability programs.
The Produce Marketing Association, the Canadian Produce Marketing Association, United Fresh, GS1 Canada and GS1 US partnered on these courses.
