The category is continuing to innovate
Specialty foods account for 22% of spending in grocery stores, despite consumers’ hesitation to spend money due inflation fatigue, shrinkflation, and the economy. However, there is still some white space in the market as David Lockwood, CEO of Lockwood Consulting said at the Summer Fancy Food Show 2023. In fact, he said that “specialty food is pandemic proof and inflation proof.”
