LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix Super Markets here said Thursday that net income rose 16.8% and sales were up 13.4% in the 14-week fourth quarter of 2011, vs. the 13-week fourth quarter of 2010. Net earnings totaled $399.5 million on sales of $7.2 billion. The extra week increased sales by 7.6%, Publix said. Comparable-store sales for the period were up 5.3%.
